THE Iloilo City General Service Offices (GSO) will deploy 214 streetsweepers in the metropolis to maintain the cleanliness during the Kasadyahan and Dagyang tribe competitions on January 26 to 27.

GSO Assistant Department Head Engineer Neil Ravena said 90 streetsweepers will be deployed within the City Proper area while the rest will be deployed in other districts.

“We have already assigned where they will maintain the cleanliness. We also assigned 10 inspectors or supervisors to monitor them,” Ravena said.

He said they will be in full force to clean the City Proper area on Monday morning, January 28, after the festivities.

GSO expects to collect 40 to 50 tons of garbage or 25 trucks on top of the 300 tons daily after the Dinagyang.

“Most of the garbage that we collected after Dinagyang are organic or biodegradable materials considering that food stalls are selling oysters and they use coconut leaves as their roof,” Ravena said.

Meanwhile, the GSO will put up four portalets within City Proper area, another four portalets in the Dinagyang Grandstand on top of the built-in comfort rooms, and two portalets near Stage 4 in Maria Clara-Aldeguer.

The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. will put up portalets in other judging areas and kiosks areas while the Provincial Capitol will also put up portalets near Stage 2. (PR)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
