230 linemen arrive in Aklan to help restore electricity

SOME 230 linemen from different power cooperatives in Luzon, Mindanao, and Panay Island are arriving in Kalibo, Aklan to help restore electricity.

According to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), some 14 structures has been damaged by Typhoon Ursula in Panay last December 25.

“The linemen are composed of 29 teams coming from the different electric power cooperatives,” the NGCP said.

It was learned that a team coming from the Antique Electric Cooperative (Anteco) has already arrived in the province to help in restoration efforts.

These undertaking of electric cooperatives helping fellow electric cooperative helping those in need are under the “Task Force: Kapatiran” is a program of the National Electrification Administration.

The NGCP said they already had restored electricity in the nearby Capiz province.

At present, the task force is prioritizing the restoration of power in Kalibo and Boracay Island. After which, other towns in Aklan will follow through. (SunStar Philippines)
