THE Iloilo City Public Library (ICPL) will hold a three-day workshop on the development of Children’s Books in Mother Tongue at City Hall Penthouse on May 15 to 17.

The initiative will be participated by 50 public schools librarians and teacher-librarians in the metropolis.

“The product of this activity is for us to make a book using our mother tongue. These books for children and adult will be in Hiligaynon with illustrations. This will help children, particularly those taught with English, to be familiar with and to be able to speak the mother tongue,” City Librarian Marion Aguirre said.

Participants will have a Story Creation and Interactive Storytelling Workshops and tutorial on Bloom Software.

“The participants need to bring their own laptop because the National Library will give them the Bloom Software. This will enable them to create their book,” Aguirre said.

The endeavor is in partnership with the National Library of the Philippines and National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
