SOME 55 youth will be undergoing skills and livelihood training on cookery and plumbing in December.

The Iloilo City Government launched its Uswag Skills Enhancement and Livelihood Program (USELP) in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Labor and Employment, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Technical Institute of Iloilo City, City Social Welfare and Development Office and Iloilo Children Welfare Foundation Inc.

The initiative was established to assist youth and young adults aged 18 to 30 years old affected by the pandemic.

There are 30 beneficiaries for cookery and 25 trainees for plumbing from December 1 to 31.

The next batch of training will start in the first quarter of 2021.

The conduct of the free training program will equip recipients with skills and knowledge that will help their sources of income.

One of the beneficiaries and federated president for Plumbing NC II (National Certificate), John Mark de la Peña, expressed gratitude to Mayor Jerry P. Treñas for giving attention and support to the youth during this pandemic.

Treñas stressed City Hall continues to conduct more programs to benefit the Ilonggos.
