THE Iloilo City Government through Balay Dalayunan: A Home for the Boys in Bo. Obrero, Lapuz district held an Achievement Day for 37 children-in-conflict with the law (CICL) recently.

The Achievement Day was to give recognition to 37 CICL who have shown good moral values during rehabilitation.

“I would like to congratulate you for doing your best while inside Balay Dalayunan. This is a manifestation that even though you have done something wrong, there is still a big chance for you to change,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III.

He also advised them to do good things when they come out of the center.

Among the awards given were Batang Masipag, Batang Masunurin, and Batang Maka-Diyos. Awardees were given medals and certificates.

“This is the first time that Balay Dalayunan has held an Achievement Day in order for them to experience what it feels like to get an award. We would like also to thank the City Government, especially Mayor Joe, who is very proud of the project and gives his all-out support to Balay Dalayunan,” said Center head Elizabeth Sevilla.

“While they are under the City’s custody, we give them trainings, values formation activities, skills training, tutorials, sports, and check-ups until such time that the Court has released the decision of their case. CICL’s parents were also trained on effective services,” Sevilla added.

Out of 37 cases, two were involved in carnapping, four in frustrated murder, three in rape, eight in robbery, seven in theft, and 13 in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
