Big conventions back in Iloilo City

THE City of Love continues to host giant gatherings as tourist arrivals are going back to normal following a hiatus due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Mayor Jerry Treñas was elated of the various events being organized in the city that attracted thousands of attendees from all over the country, boosting tourism and economic activities.

Some 6,000 delegates, the biggest so far, are joining the three-day 39th Principals Training and Development and National Board Conference of Philippine Elementary School Principals Association (Pespa) at Iloilo Convention Center (ICON) in Mandurriao district until June 30.

Other conventions set in July include Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) 8th Visayas Regional Conference with some 500 delegates at Punta Villa in Arevalo district July 21-23 and Sunlife with some 450 delegates at ICON July 5.

The Komiket Iloilo comics fest on July 15-17 and Iloilo Bike Festival on July 29-31 are also expected to entice and enjoin enthusiasts. (PR)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
