Jun N. Aguirre

KALIBO, Aklan -- A number of passengers bound for Manila were stranded for an hour at the Kalibo International Airport in Aklan Sunday morning due to a bird strike.

Kalibo Councilor Juris Bautista Sucro said he was onboard the Cebu Pacific flight when a bird hit the plane while the aircraft was taking off the airport runway.

"The plane was about to take off when we were hit by a bird strike. Because of this, the pilot of the Cebu Pacific has to return back to the tarmac to inspect possible damages," Sucro said.

The bird reported hit the area beside the pilot's seat.

"After almost an hour, we were allowed to fly back again," Sucro told SunStar Philippines.

The management of Cebu Pacific is yet to issue a comment on the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
