THE City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) will conduct an awareness campaign for the waste management and proper disposal through a city wide cleanup drive on August 18 at Iloilo City.

In connection with the Charter Day celebration, City Mayor Jose Espinosa III and Cenro invite about 180 barangays to be involved in the campaign.

“Not only the barangay will join us but also the schools, national government agency and City Hall will join the cleanup drive,” said Noel Hechanova, Cenro head.

Cenro instructed each barangay captain to identify their cleanup area and pickup points and document the solid waste they collected.

Hechanova clarified that there is a current regular clean up drive conducted in barangays however, they need to raise awareness to the public to sustain their efforts to clean.

At present, Cenro continues the regular maintenance of the Iloilo River and they have received reports that numerous areas in Iloilo needed to be clean up. (Carolyn Jane Abello)
