THE Iloilo City Government has declared the termination of dengue outbreak in all of its 180 villages.

“Per cases for two consecutive weeks, we are already below the epidemic threshold. But we should not be complacent. We need to continue anti-dengue activities in schools and barangays, particularly regular clean-up drive to rid of mosquito breeding places,” said Dr. Annabelle Tang, officer-in-charge of City Health Office (CHO).

Mayor Jerry Treñas said CHO needs 13 more doctors to boost health operations especially against dengue which has been widespread every year.

City Hall earlier hired nurses and medical technologists to cater to the urgent medical needs of dengue patients.

The City Council declared July 2019 a state of calamity due to dengue outbreak following recommendation by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council. (PR)
