THE Iloilo City Government gave P3,000 each social pension to 198 senior citizens March 26.

Mayor Jose Espinosa III gave the social pension to senior citizens from various districts as part of third and fourth quarter releases for 2017. P1,500 each is given to senior citizens per quarter.

“Remember that the City Government is ready to help you and you can always come to my office without appointment,” Espinosa said as the City Hall enhances its “Pag-ulikid” program to care for its constituents.

City Social Welfare and Development (SWD) Officer Gene Garingalao said new pensioners replaced the 198 who were either dead or have transferred their residency.

The city has a total of some 13,000 senior citizens who are receiving social pension.

Librada Magno, 69, of Barangay Benedicto, Jaro district, thanked the City Government for the social pension she received.

“I am thankful to Mayor Joe III and City Government for giving us our pension. This is very helpful to me in a way that this money will be used for my medicine and check-up,” Magno said.

Magno, who is suffering from cataract, said she will be consulting an eye specialist and will use the money to buy for her and her husband’s needs. (Merianne Grace J. Ereñeta/ Iloilo City PIO)
