Iloilo City Government to add Covid-19 beds

Sunnexdesk

THE Iloilo City Government and partners have started preparing additional beds for Covid-19 patients even as hospitals capacity has been overwhelmed several times due to overflowing admissions.

A 66-bed modular hospital, which is a three-unit 22-bed per unit, will be built nearby Sooc Quarantine Facility by the Department of Public Works and Highways upon request to the National Government.

City Hall will provide logistics and human resources and has partnered with The Medical City Iloilo to manage the facility for mild to moderate cases.

This temporary hospital seeks to address the high health care utilization rate (HCUR) considering the city-based facilities also cater to patients from five neighboring provinces in Panay Island.

An additional 32 isolation beds will also be built in front of the existing one, also in Sooc.

The isolation and quarantine facilities will form part of the proposed hospital in collaboration with the Department of Health. (PR)
