Iloilo City to establish open market

Sunnexdesk

ILOILO City Mayor Jose Espinosa III will open the sidewalks for the vendors to accommodate the sudden influx of shoppers in preparation for the Christmas Season.

Around 300 vendors from the districts of La Paz, Arevalo, Molo, Mandurriao, Jaro, Lapuz and City Proper will be allowed to sell at the Downtown sidewalks.

Espinosa said that it will highlight cheaper prices of fruits and gifts for the Christmas celebration. The city government will also mitigate the vendor’s utilization of spaces to avoid hindrances in traffic and garbage.

Similar to All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day celebration wherein, the vendors were arranged at the Plaza Jaro with proper umbrellas that have quality designs.

“They should comply with the requirements to refine their areas of selling,” Espinosa said. (Carolyn Jane Abello)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
