Sunnexdesk

ILOILO City Mayor Jose Espinosa III encouraged Ilonggos to switch off lights on March 30 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in line with the celebration of Earth Hour.

Espinosa issued Memorandum Circular 063, encouraging the public to join the event by switching off non-essential lights, including streetlights and signages.

He said this is the city's way of showing full support to climate change mitigation initiatives and to help solve global warming.

Now on its 12th year, Earth Hour is considered the world's largest grassroots movement for the environment. (PR)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
