INCUMBENT Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III expressed to reclaim current post on the upcoming elections next year.

On June 18, during the regular press conference at Iloilo City Hall, Espinosa officially declared that he will run as a city mayor again.

Before, he refused to share his political plans for the near elections but now he was able to mark the long-awaited question.

“I have already decided. I just hoped that, if that will be for you then it will be given to you,” he said.

Espinosa and the current Iloilo congressman Jerry Treñas will be political rivals for the mayoral candidacy.

Treñas is a brother-in-law of Espinosa. He declared the desire to run as mayor last March 2.

As of now, Espinosa hasn’t provided yet his running mates and councilors who will run under him.

“When you talk about politics, there were always be alliances and coalition,” he said.

Espinosa wishes for his birthday on June 20 that he will continue to work for the public, forget about “political talks” and provide service.

“Politics. We will reach that but not now,” Espinosa.

He said that if he will be focused on politics, it will be “divisive” as for him, “it is casting its evil shadow in us.” (Carolyn Jane Abello)
