Integrated farming get boost

IT'S all set to "transFarm" Iloilo City.

Enthusiastic barangay officials and Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) who accepted the challenge of Mayor Jerry Treñas's Edible Landscaping initiative (JPT Ediscape) for Iloilo City, Level-up 2021 were the recipients of garden tools, vegetable seeds and vermicasts through a ceremonial turnover at the Freedom Grandstand in Muelle Loney on February 17.

These farming essentials are counterpart of the Department of Agriculture to the collaborative project of the City Population Office headed by Mary Ann Ramos and Office of the City Agriculturist officer-in-charge Inigo Garingalao.

Series of orientation on urban gardening, native chicken raising and fishpond technology are slated on February 22-24 to equip the beneficiaries of the basic knowledge and provision of technical assistance on integrated farming.

This undertaking is to ensure food security and livelihood to the populace amid the ongoing threat of the pandemic. (PR)
