THE Aklan Provincial Government has urged residents of Kalibo to cooperate in the intensified campaign to make the town stray cats-free.

Chita Dela Cruz, environmental consultant of the Aklan Provincial Government, said they already caught 25 stray cats which were all seen roaming in the compound of Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital (DRSTMH).

"This is a health and sanitary issue. We thanked Governor Florencio Miraflores for supporting this endeavor," Dela Cruz said.

All of those caught were brought to the Provincial Veterinarian Office for neuter and spay operation.

After the operation, they were placed inside a cage as they heal. Other cats were allowed to be adopted by residents.

"I urged the residents to be responsible pet owners," Dela Cruz said. (SunStar Philippines)
