ILOILO City Mayor Jose Espinosa III welcomed the council from Ganghwa County, Incheon, Metropolitan of South Korea during their courtesy visit at City Hall on February 13.

The Korean council visited the metropolis to search for more than a thousand Ilonggos 27 years old and above who know how to speak Korean to work as fruit pickers.

“This is a great opportunity for us so that we can present Iloilo City for future close coordination with Ganghwa City. Ilonggos are intelligent, always prepared, and efficient employees,” Espinosa said.

Yun, Jung Hyuk, director of Administrative Welfare, said they initially invested on the internet to learn about Iloilo City.

“We are looking forward to know more about Iloilo City especially best practices in the fields of agriculture and education. We wanted to hire fruit pickers directly because we know that Ilonggos are hardworking and trustworthy,” Yun said.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding between Ganghwa County and Iloilo City is set to be scheduled. (PR)
