Mental health drive up

Sunnexdesk

THE Iloilo City Government, in partnership with the academe and entertainment industry, will intensify awareness campaign on mental health amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Mayor Jerry Treñas already met with group of experts on mental health.

“We will come up with programs for mental health. From data from the province, it seems there were more suicide cases which reached 27 than five Covid-19 deaths,” Treñas said.

“So we really have to be pro-active regarding this matter. That is why I am very thankful to our partners, live entertainers, teachers, and guidance counselors, because they will help us,” he added.

The mayor noted the initiatives will go down to the grassroots.

“The projects will not only be on Facebook, they also have plans for barangays,” said Treñas.

The Iloilo City Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Group is calling to those who need someone to talk to, to contact (033) 315-3012 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. (PR)
