THOUSANDS more fish were dispersed to the Iloilo River in December 2021 as restock enhancement.

Bulk of these was shared by Mayor Jerry Treñas in celebration of his birthday on December 4.

"We were able to get an additional 1,998 fingerlings of bulgan as part of my birthday gift to the city. We got them at P45 each so it's a total of P89,910. We hope to ensure that the river will continue to be sustainable," Treñas stressed.

City Agriculturist Office (CAO) released the latest batch of bulgan or seabass December 15.

“The fingerlings have undergone proper acclimatization or adaptation procedures before releasing them in the water to minimize mortalities and increase the chance of survival,” CAO stated.

They earlier released 718 bulgan and 97 inid or lapu-lapu on December 10.

They also released 625 bangus juveniles on December 2. (PR)
