THE annual "Christmas Parol of Hope" project is a partnership between the Iloilo City Government and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)-Iloilo for three years now.

The initiative has provided hope to project beneficiaries, the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), who crafted the traditional Christmas decors at Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BMJP).

Some 2,000 giant, colorful star lanterns and angels adorn main thoroughfares as the metropolis embraces the festive mood of the Yuletide season.

The grand switch-on held in the evening of November 25 at SM City Iloilo Southpoint was led by Mayor Jerry Treñas together with first lady Rosalie Treñas, PCCI Iloilo Chair Dr. Sandra Sarabia Gomez, Lone District Representative Julienne Baronda, Uswag Ilonggo Partylist Representative Jojo Ang, PCCI Regional Governor Joebert Peñaflorida, SM Regional Marketing Manager Kristine Yap, and stakeholders.

The parols will continue to light up the streets of the metropolis until the Dinagyang Festival and Chinese New Year in January 2023. (PR)
