BORACAY ISLAND -- The Boracay Inter-Agency Rehabilitation Management Group (BIARMG) enforced Thursday, November 7, the demolition of 10 illegal structures on Bulabog beach.

The BIARMG said Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu ordered the enforcement of the demolition.

Last October, the affected residents appealed to the Kalibo Regional Trial Court to declare the demolition illegal. The court then issued a 20 days temporary restraining order (TRO).

The TRO expired November 5.

The demolished structures include portions of hotels, coffee shops and residential areas.

They reportedly violated the 25+5 easement at the Bulabog beach.

During a previous court hearing, the trial court judge, Ronald Exmundo, urged both parties to agree not to push for the demolition as the court is yet to decide on the petition.

The agreement was made by lawyer Melanio Prado, who represented the local government of Malay, and lawyer Salvador Paolo Panelo, who represented the petitioners.

Panelo said he will bring the incident to the court.
