Several streets closed to traffic during Dinagyang opening

THE Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) has issued new temporary traffic scheme to be implemented during the opening salvo of the 51st Dinagyang Festival at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 11, however, the closure will took place at 1 p.m.

Similar to the previous traffic plans implemented during the celebration of the event, there will be closure in several streets that include General Luna, Delgado, Ledesma, De Leon, Aldeguer, Mapa, Guanco, Ortiz, Iznart, JM Basa, Fermin Caram, Valeria, Quezon, Bonifacio, Joveller, Montinola, Solis, Yulo, Arroyo, Arsenal, Aduana(Peralta), Huervas, Dela Rama, and Muelle Loney Street and bridge.

Eight tribes will showcase their performance during the event. They are the Panayanon of Iloilo City National High School, Salognon of Jaro National High School, Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School, Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School, Paghidaet of La Paz National High School, Hugponganon of Tiu Cho Teg-Ana Ros Foundation Integrated School, Dagatnon of Ramon Avanceña National High School, and Barriohanon of Bo. Obrero National High School.

The tribes will perform a carousel type of parade. The destination of parade will start in the New Freedom Grandstand to Muelle Loney, turn left to Aduana (Peralta), turn right to JM Basa St. towards F. Caram Avenue to Arroyo Fountain (Iloilo Provincial Capitol), turn left to General Luna Street, turn left to Quezon Street, turn left to Ledesma Street, turn right to Iznart Street, turn left to Aldeguer Street, turn right to JM Basa Street, turn left to Dela Rama to Huervas St. Tehnto their final dispersal area.

One-way streets will cover Muelle Loney, from Rizal (Lapaz) to Drilon Bridge towards Quirino Bridge; Rizal (Lapuz), from Rizal Statue towards Barangay Rizal La Paz Covered Court and J. De Leon Street, from corner Jalandoni Street towards Fuentes Street.

The Public Utility Jeepneys will not be able to access the streets of Ledesma, from corner Jalandoni Street to corner Mabini Street; Luna street, from corner Huervana to Forbes Bridge and Mabini Street, from corner Delgado towards Ledesma Street.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
