ILOILO City Mayor Jerry Treñas has been chosen as one of the panelists in the Sustainable Cities Summit at Sofitel Plaza Hotel Manila on October 17.

He will speak before a session on "Cities Re-imagined: A Mayor's Vision" alongside trending personalities Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto.

Other speakers include Makati Mayor Abby Binay, Cagayan de Oro Mayor Oscar Moreno, and Cauayan City Mayor Bernard Dy of Isabela.

Ayala Corporation Associate Director Guillermo Luz will moderate the discussions.

The forum is organized by United States Agency for International Development (USAid) Philippines together with Livable Cities Challenge and League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP).

Themed "Building Liveable Cities," the gathering will bring together 145 city mayors all over the country with private sector professionals and practitioners to discuss major issues in developing basic services, mobility, resilience, and government technology.

Local and international experts have been invited to share ideas and best practice around these key challenges and share how current digital trends and emerging technologies can bring about innovation in cities and communities.

The conference will also serve as the launch and starting point for Dashboard and Livable Cities Challenge.

Dashboard is a visual database of key indicators of all cities that will be useful for local chief executives, investors, and residents in assessing competitiveness and livability.

Challenge is a 90-day design competition where cities will have the opportunity to meet mentors and compete to pitch their design solutions to a panel of experts in early 2020. (PR)
