KALIBO, Aklan -- Cherry Mae Regalado, one of the bemedalled athletes on Pencak Silat, said she is upset but determined to win gold in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), which will be held in the country this year.

In an interview, Regalado said she lost her games in the Pencak Silat competition held in South Korea last week.

Pencak silat is a form of martial arts popularized in Indonesia. In the competition, Regalado was reportedly outclassed by competitors from Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Last year, Regalado, who is from Balete, Aklan, gave the Philippines a bronze medal during the Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

"Realistically, because of what happened, I see myself a 50-50 percent chance of winning the gold. I will fight 'till I can't walk. The final hit is about to come (relating to the upcoming SEA Games)," she said.

The SEA Games is expected to commence on November 30 to December 11 this year.
