A PEDICAB driver was killed on the spot and six other persons were injured as a car plowed through five other vehicles in Divisoria in Manila on Friday, December 11, 2020.

Manila Police District Station 11 Chief Rollyfer Capoquian said the incident occurred on Claro M. Recto Street at around 6:45 a.m. Friday.

Capoquian said they have not identified the fatality. Those injured are drivers of jeepneys that were hit by the car.

He identified the driver of the car as Armando Pitas, 55, resident of Western Bicutan in Taguig.

He will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injury and damage to properties.

“Lumalabas sa ating imbestigasyon na ang may kasalanan talaga dito ay itong si driver ng Hyundai Accent, kulay pula yung sasakyan niya, inararo niya yung limang sasakyan sa kahabaan ng CM Recto sa Divisoria,” sabi ni Capoquian.

Police said Pitas told them that he lost control of the vehicle. Capoquian, for his part, said Pitas looked like he had been drinking. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
