POLICEMEN, military and coast guard personnel are now entitled to a 20 percent discount on public utility buses.

In a memorandum signed by officials from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and the Department of Transportation (DOTr), active members of the PNP, AFP and PCG get 20 percent discount on both city and provincial buses.

The order is effective Monday, February 11.

DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said giving the uniformed personnel such a discount is part of the government’s effort to acknowledge their works of keeping the country peaceful and orderly.

“We owe the peace and order and national security of our country to their inspiring service,” he said.

In order to avail themselves of the discount, the PNP, AFP and PCG personnel must present their ID to prove that they are active in the service. (SunStar Philippines)
