Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo

THREE people were injured while two others were arrested in a bombing attempt near a polling center in Marantao, Lanao del Sur.

Colonel Romeo Brawner, commander of the 103rd Brigade, said the incident happened around 5 p.m. Monday, May 13, when men inside a white van attempted to throw a grenade at the troops manning the streets.

"Meron (pagsabog) grenade, pero sa loob sumabog, sa loob ng sasakyan. Ihahagis sana kaso sumabit sa bintana, so sumabog sa loob ng sasakyan nila, so kung sino yung magtatapon sila 'yung wounded," he said.

Three of the suspects were brought to the hospital while two others were wounded.

Bomb experts and bomb sniffing dogs were immediately deployed in the area to search for more possible explosives inside the van.

Brawner said investigation is being conducted to determine the people behind the attempted attack and their motive. (SunStar Philippines)
