3 PNPA cadets dismissed over 'sexual harassment'

Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo

THREE cadets from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) were dismissed from the cadetship program following their involvement in the alleged sexual harassment of two plebes last October, a police official said Monday, December 3.

PNPA Director Chiquito Malayo said the cadets -- one from the second class and two others from the third class -- were found guilty of grave delinquency and conduct unbecoming of an officer or acts inimical or prejudicial to good order or discipline.

The administrative charges were filed against the three cadets, whom Malayo refused to identify, after allegedly ordering two plebes to perform oral sex on October 6. The order was reportedly a punishment for not obeying orders from their upper classmen.

Malayo said the three cadets can submit their motion for reconsideration within 48 hours.

Earlier, former PNPA director Chief Superintendent Joseph Adnol said one of the three cadets is a son of a police official, while one of the victims is a son of an official of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. (SunStar Philippines)
