4 cops wounded in NPA attack in Masbate

FOUR policemen were wounded in an attack staged by suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Masbate City early Friday morning, August 24.

Bicol police office spokesperson Chief Inspector Maria Luisa Culabaquib said that around 7:45 a.m. Friday, August 24, suspected NPA rebels attacked the troops manning the City Police Assistance Center in Barangay Bayombon.

Wounded during the attack were Senior Police Officer 2 Ariel Espiel and Police Officers 2 Leo Michael Azares, Melmar Rapsing, and Rosalito Apoya II, all members of the Masbate City Police Office.

Other members of the Masbate police responded to the incident and conducted pursuit operations against the attackers who may still be in the area. (SunStar Philippines)
