45 hurt in bus crash in Benguet

AT least 45 people were hurt when a passenger bus crashed into an electrical post in Atok, Benguet on Wednesday afternoon, May 1.

Benguet Police Provincial Office Chief Lyndon Mencio said the driver of the Rising Sun Bus bound for Baguio City, Regan Ginoban, lost control of the vehicle.

The bus rammed an electrical post along Kilometer 25 Caliking, Atok, Benguet at around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The injured passengers were rushed to the Benguet General Hospital for treatment.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Colonel Bernard Banac said a total of 16 major vehicular accidents have already been recorded nationwide since the beginning of summer vacation on April 5.

He said 151 persons were injured in the said accidents.

“The PNP reminds drivers to always check the road worthiness of their vehicles and drive carefully to ensure safety of their passengers and avoid accidents,” said Banac. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
