Another detainee bolts NBP detention

Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo

ANOTHER person deprived of liberty (PDL) had escaped from the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag said on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Chaclag identified the PDL as Chris Candas Ablas, who was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole over robbery with homicide charges.

Ablas was among the PDLs who escaped from the NBP’s maximum security compound early Monday dawn, January 17.

Two of them were killed during a manhunt operation, while Ablas and another escapee, identified as Drakilou Falcon, who was convicted of double murder, frustrated murder, attempted murder and robbery charges, were still subject to operations.

“Maximum Security Compound is still placed on lockdown status as of this time while recovery efforts are still ongoing,” Chaclag said.

Chaclag earlier warned that the escapees were “armed and dangerous.”

He urged the public to immediately report to authorities if there are sightings of the suspects in their areas. (SunStar Philippines)
