Around 2,000 new infections added to coronavirus tally

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, reported 2,025 new cases of infection, bringing the total case count to 309,303.

In its case bulletin at 4 p.m. Tuesday, DOH also reported 68 deaths, including 49 that occurred in September.

These new mortalities raised the death toll to 5,448. Among these new mortalities were 26 from the National Capital Region (NCR), 13 from Western Visayas, seven from Calabarzon,and six from Central Luzon.

The agency also announced 290 new recoveries, bringing the total to 252,930.

DOH said 21 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified to deaths after final validation while 10 duplicates were removed from the case count.

Among the 2,025 new cases were 628 from the NCR, 279 from Cavite, 218 from Negros Occidental, 108 from Laguna and 102 from Bulacan.

Of the total case count, 50,925 were active cases, of which 3.3 percent were critical and 1.4 percent were in severe condition.
