Below 1,000 fresh Covid-19 cases for 5th straight day

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, March 6, 2022, reported below 1,000 fresh cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) for the fifth straight day, with 870 new cases added to the nationwide tally.

The DOH case bulletin on Sunday said active cases in the country remained high at 48,793, or 1.3 percent of the total infections.

Of the active cases, 44,131 were mild, 2,693 were moderate, 1,279 were severe, 401 were asymptomatic, and 289 were critical.

The health department said the country’s total caseload increased to 3,667,542.

The country's positivity rate stood at 3.9 percent of the 24,543 samples tested on March 4.

The health department also logged 144 deaths, raising the country's death toll to 57,023.

The DOH also reported 1,433 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total individuals who recovered from the disease to 3,561,726 or 97.1 percent.

As for the healthcare utilization rate, 25 percent of intensive care unit beds, 22 percent of isolation beds, 14 percent of ward beds and 12 percent of ventilators have been utilized.

The DOH said data from March 3 was used for healthcare utilization figures due to a shift in version in DOH Data Collect.

All laboratories were operational on March 4, while five laboratories were not able to submit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System. (SunStar Philippines)
