MANILA Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula called on the newly installed Marcos administration to seek the common good for all the 110 million Filipinos and not just for a few individuals or groups.

In his homily during the Thanksgiving Mass of President Marcos Jr. and his top officials, Advincula said it is imperative for the new government to serve everybody and not just work for the benefit of some.

“Guided by truth, urged by charity, and passionate for justice and peace, may you spend yourselves in the service of the common good,” Advincula said.

"Seek the good, not only of some individuals or particular groups, but of the Philippine society as a whole," he added.

The Manila prelate said such a principle should be applied in all the undertakings and programs of the government.

“As we meet in our offices and conference halls asking questions in our heads, may we be mindful of our people who ask questions in their empty stomachs,” said the Cardinal.

In turn, he asked the Filipino faithful to pray for the success of Marcos and his administration in the next six years.

“They need our prayers and cooperation so that their efforts for the good of all will bear fruits,” said Advincula.

On Thursday, June 30, 2022, Marcos was installed as the 17th President of the Philippines.
