Cebu archdiocese denies Palma 'solicitation email'

Sunnexdesk

THE Archdiocese of Cebu on Friday, October 11, vehemently denied that Archbishop Jose Palma is soliciting funds via electronic mail.

In an urgent notice/disclaimer, the Archdiocese of Cebu said there is no truth to the information that they are asking for funds under the authorization of Palma.

"We do not ask and never solicit funds from different institutions without the prior knowledge, formal consent, and definite authorization from the Archbishop himself," said the Cebu Archdiocese.

In addition, it pointed how the alleged sender of the solicitation email has been using a bogus account.

"We, therefore, inform you that these communications, if received, are false. The Secretariat does not have an email under the account of jspcebu@outlook.com," it stressed.

The urgent disclaimer was issued after the Cebu archdiocese had received reports that there are unknown individuals, who are using Palma's name to solicit funds via email, amid preparations for the celebration of the 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines in 2021. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
