AT LEAST 10 Cebu Pacific flights have been cancelled Friday, August 17, after a plane from China skidded off the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) runway while landing in a downpour.

The passengers and crew of Xiamen Air Flight 8667 were taken to an airport terminal, where they were given blankets and food before being taken to a hotel, officials said.

In an advisory, Cebu Pacific said that due to the incident, the following flights were already cancelled:

* 5J 272 Manila-Hong Kong?

* 5J 929 Manila-Bangkok?

* 5J 5054 Manila-Narita?

* 5J 110 Manila-Hong Kong?

The airline said it will also cancel Friday the following flights:

* 5J 273 Hong Kong-Manila

* 5J 930 Bangkok-Manila

* 5J 5055 Narita-Manila

* 5J 111 Hong Kong-Manila

* 5J 805 Manila-Singapore

* 5J 806 Singapore-Manila

'Passengers on these affected flights may avail any of the following options, without penalties: Rebook their flights for travel within 30 days from original departure date; get a full refund; or place the cost of the ticket in a Travel Fund for future use," said Cebu Pacific.

Affected passengers were advised to not come to the NAIA until they receive a new, confirmed itinerary. "We encourage passengers to manage their rebooking or refunds through the 'Manage Booking' section in the Cebu Pacific website, www.cebupacificair.com," said the airline.

"We may also be reached through the CEB hotline at +632 702 0888. However, due to the volume of calls we may be receiving, the fastest way to rebook or refund your flight will be through the Cebu Pacific website," it added.

Cebu Pacific vowed that it will provide regular updates on its flight schedules, "as disruptions are expected to continue today." It advised its passengers to monitor the official Cebu Pacific Facebook (facebook.com/cebupacificair) or Twitter (@CebuPacificAir) accounts for updates.
