Comelec to resume voter registration in NCR plus

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday, May 14, 2021, announced the resumption of voter registration in the National Capital Region (NCR) and in the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal beginning Monday, May 17.

The area will shift to general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions on May 15.

In a virtual press briefing, Comelec Executive Director Bartolome Sinocruz Jr. said voter registration in the Offices of Election Officers (OEO) in the NCR and four provinces will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during weekdays.

Comelec spokesman James Jinenez also made the same announcement in a social media post.

With the resumption, he urged those with previous appointments to coordinate with their OEOs regarding their schedule.

"Those with appointments are advised to call ahead or check the Facebook pages of the Comelec offices, where they will #VoterReg," said Jimenez.

Voter registration in the NCR plus was suspended when the area was placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on March 29 due to rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
