A COMMUNIST rebel who had been wanted for frustrated murder was arrested in Lope de Vega town in Northern Samar on Monday, July 4, 2022.

Nabbed around 5:50 a.m. Monday was Pablito Ancermo Laureano Jr., alias Nonoy or Noah, a member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) under the Front Committee 2 of SRC Emporium, Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit, Squad 2.

He has been listed as the number 6 most wanted person of Lope de Vega town.

Philippine National Police Officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. said Laureano had been the subject of a warrant of arrest for frustrated murder issued by Judge Alma Consuelo Esidera of Regional Trial Court, 8th Judicial Region, Branch 20, Catarman, Northern Samar.

Esidera has recommended P200,000 bail for Laureano’s temporary liberty.

Danao commended the Northern Samar police for Laureano’s arrest.

“I commend the efforts of our personnel for another accomplishment in line with the anti-insurgency campaign against the communist terrorist group in the country. Sa ilalim ng bagong administrasyon ng ating bansa ay mas lalo pa nating paiigtingin ang ating mga ginagawang hakbang upang panatilihin ang kaayusan tungo sa isang progresibong pamayanan," he said.

The CTG member has been placed under the custody of the 1st Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company for proper disposition. (LMY/SunStar Philippines)
