Coronavirus cases exceed 12,000; deaths pass 800

THE Department of Health (DOH) listed 215 additional cases of coronavirus infections, bringing the total to 12,091 as of Friday, May 15.

Sixteen additional mortalities were also reported, raising the death toll to 806, while 123 more patients have recovered, or a total of 2,460 survivors as of Friday.

Of the 215 new cases, 144 were reported from the National Capital Region or Metro Manila, two from Central Visayas (or Region 7) and 69 from the rest of the country.

In Cebu City, which is part of Central Visayas, three new cases were reported Friday.

According to the World Health Organization, there have been more than 4.2 million cases of infection in 216 countries. A total of 294,190 people had died as of May 14. (From reports of JTM/HDT/SunStar Philippines)
