Coronavirus cases pass 14,000

AFTER two days of reporting less than 200 confirmed coronavirus cases in a 24-hour period, the Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, May 24, listed 258 cases that brought the total to more than 14,000.

As of 4 p.m. Sunday, the total number of infections in the country reached 14,035.

Five additional deaths were also reported, raising the mortality count to 868, while 72 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of survivors to 3,249.

Of the 14,035 cases, the DOH said 9,918 are active.

Of the 258 new cases, meanwhile, 195 are from the National Capital Region or Metro Manila, 12 are repatriates and 51 are from other regions. (MVI/SunStar Philippines)
