Covid-19 cases surpass 1.9M nationwide

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, August 27, 2021, reported over 17,000 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases, bringing the cumulative case count in the Philippines past 19,000.

The case bulletin Friday reported 17,447 new cases, 113 additional mortalities and 6,771 new recoveries.

The new infections were the second highest in a day, after the 18,332 cases on August 23. These brought the total count to 1,916,461 cases in the country.

One laboratory was unable to submit its data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System on August 25.

The additional deaths raised the total to 32,841. The case fatality rate declined to 1.71 percent.

There are now 1,741,089 Covid-19 recoveries.

The active cases went up to 142,531, of which 0.6 percent are critical cases, 1.1 percent are severe cases, 0.9 percent are moderate cases, 96.2 percent are mild cases and 1.1 percent are asymptomatic. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
