THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) has recommended the filing of a deportation case against a Chinese woman who attacked traffic enforcers in Makati City last July 8, 2020.

During the Laging Handa press briefing on Saturday, July 11, BI national operations center chief Melvin Mabulac said the bureau’s intelligence division recommended the filing of a deportation case against Chinese national Dong Li after finding out that she has not complied with the requirements needed to update her status as a tourist.

“Iyong intelligence division natin, nag-recommend sa legal division na magkaroon ng kaso ng deportation case,” Mabulac said. “Kasi nakita natin na itong Chinese na ito ay isang turista lamang at hindi pa pala siya nakakapag-comply sa requirements ng pag-update sa kanyang status.”

Dong, 27, was arrested after a video showing her kicking and hitting a traffic enforcer went viral on social media.

She also hit a cyclist with an umbrella for no reason, after mauling the traffic enforcer.

The incident happened along Makati Ave. corner Jupiter Barangay Bel-Air in Makati City on Tuesday, July 8.

She was nabbed for inflicting “physical injury and disobedience to person in authority,” said police.

Mabulac said the video is proof that Dong disrespected the traffic enforcers.

Dong is currently in the custody of the Makati City Police Station in Barangay Poblacion.

If found guilty, she could be jailed for up to 10 days or be fined P550. (Jove Moya/SunStar Philippines)
