DOH confirms around 2,000 new virus cases

AROUND 2,000 new coronavirus cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, October 30, 2020, bringing the total to 378,933.

Based on the October 30 Case Bulletin, the DOH has confirmed 2,006 new cases as of Friday.

There were also 636 new recoveries from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and 38 additional deaths.

Total recoveries increased to 330,457, 87.2 percent of the total case count.

The death toll nationwide stood at 7,185, or a case fatality rate of 1.9 percent.

The cities or provinces with the highest number of new cases on Friday were Batangas (124), Cavite (121), Quezon City (105), Rizal (89) and Bulacan (81).

Globally, the Philippines exited the list of top 20 countries in terms of number of infections on Thursday, based on the tracker of the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.

As of Friday, the Philippines ranked 22nd after Belgium on the 20th spot and Ukraine on the 21st. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
