EASTERN Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) commander Jose Faustino is the incoming commanding general of the Philippine Army, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gilbert Gapay said on Friday, February 12, 2021.

"He will be the next CGPA but on acting capacity because he has less than one year remaining in the military service... by law, it should be (a) year," Sobejana told reporters.

"Until retirement for now, pero kung may iba pang trabahong ibibigay then malalaman na lang natin," he added.

Sobejana vouched for Faustino's ability to lead the Philippine Army, citing his expertise in peace and security efforts.

He said they have yet to identify Faustino’s replacement as the Eastmincom commander.

Faustino is a member of the Philippine Military Academy class of 1988. He served as commander of various military divisions including the 10th Infantry Division, 35th Infantry Battalion and the 501st Infantry Brigade in Davao Region, where they dealt with local terrorist groups.
