THE coronavirus disease (Covid-19) positivity rate in Metro Manila has increased to 9.2 percent over the past seven days and this could indicate the start of a new wave of infection, Octa Research fellow Dr. Guido David said on Thursday, November 24, 2022.

From 7.4 percent, the weekly positivity rate in the region went up to 9.2 percent.

“Unless these trends do not progress, we could be seeing the start of another wave of infections in the NCR (similar to what we saw in June). Stay safe everyone,” David said.

As of November 23, the Philippines has a total of 17,049 active Covid-19 cases.

The country’s total Covid-19 caseload is at 4,028,187 with 64,504 deaths.

The NCR remained as the top contributor in the number of fresh cases in the country, with 703 cases on November 23. Out of the 703, 167 were in Metro Manila.

As of November 19, Camarines Sur, Isabela, La Union, Tarlac, Aklan, Benguet and Misamis Oriental registered a “very high” Covid-19 positivity rate that ranges from 20 to nearly 50 percent.

Cebu’s positivity rate was high at 11.5 percent. (SunStar Philippines)
