LPA spotted near Batanes

THE state weather bureau is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) that was spotted near Batanes province in Luzon.

As of 3 p.m. Monday, September 9, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was last seen 580 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

Pagasa said that in the next 24 hours, monsoon rains will be experienced in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga and Bulacan.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over Metro Manila, the rest of northern Luzon, and the provinces of Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Rizal.

Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorm, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

Residents living in low-lying areas or in mountainous areas were advised to take precautionary measures against possible flashfloods or landslides.

Pagasa also advised the public and the concerned disaster risk reduction and management offices to continue monitoring for updates and weather advisories. (EZN/SunStar Philippines)
