Military identifies 4 more crash fatalities

FOUR more fatalities in the C-130 plane crash in Sulu have been identified, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Sunday, August 8, 2021.

The AFP said a report from the Soco Crime Lab in Zamboanga Peninsula confirmed the identities of Corporal Jerome M. Balivado, Private Joey T. Loterte, Sergeant Salahi Abdurahman and Private Kevin L. Damole, all from the Philippine Army.

Their remains will be brought back to their families.

As of Sunday, 37 out of the 50 soldiers who died in the crash have been identified. The remains were charred beyond recognition.

A total of 53 people, including three civilians, died when a C-130 plane missed its landing and crashed on in Patikul, Sulu on July 4, 2021. There were 40 soldiers and civilians who were injured. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
