WHEN the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) takes effect on August 6, 2021 in the National Capital Region (NCR), curfew hours will be lengthened to 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., and a liquor ban will be imposed in some local government units (LGUs).

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos said Monday, August 2, 2021, that the liquor ban will be imposed in Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, Parañaque, Pasay, Navotas, Pateros, Quezon City and San Juan.

The NCR, which is currently under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened and additional restrictions, will shift to ECQ on August 6 to 20 in a bid to stem transmission of the Delta variant of Sars-

CoV-2.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said low-income families in the ECQ-affected areas will receive P1,000 to P4,000 cash aid.

Aside from Metro Manila, other areas under ECQ are Iloilo City and Province, Cagayan de Oro City and Gingoog City until August 7. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
