MALACAÑANG on Friday, July 12, denied issuing a memorandum ordering a moratium on the apprehension of transport network vehicles service (TNVS) drivers with incomplete registrations.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo branded as "fake" the reported Memorandum 6363, which allegedly announced the "no contact apprehension for all TNVS drivers until further notice."

"The Office of the President advises the public that Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea has not signed or caused the release of a particular document, which is labelled as Memorandum No. 636," Panelo said.

"The document is fake. Please be guided accordingly," he added.

The fake document states that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority are directed to adopt the no contact apprehension for TNVS drivers or operators who do not have provisional authority or certificate of public convenience.

The fake memorandum was released on the same day that a group of TNVS drivers and operators launched a transport caravan protest and asked the House of Representatives to create a law that would institutionalize TNVS policies.

The TNVS drivers and operators made the call as they denounced the supposed difficulties in securing documents needed to support their franchise application before the LTFRB.

The LTFRB is set to decide within the week if the apprehension of TNVS drivers who lack the required documents will push through. (SunStar Philippines)
