Over 100 recoveries reclassified as deaths

FOR the second time in three days, over 100 cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) that were tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final verification.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, July 16, 2021, reported 5,676 new cases, 162 additional mortalities and 2,670 recoveries.

The new cases brought the total case count to 1,496,328, of which 95 percent or 1,421,372 have recovered.

The additional deaths raised the Covid-19 death toll to 26,476. The case fatality rate remained at 1.77 percent.

There remained 48,480 active cases, of which 91.8 percent are mild, 2.6 percent are severe, 2.1 percent are asymptomatic, 1.8 percent are moderate and 1.6 percent are critical.
